If anyone would complain about a lack of noise, it would be you knighty! It's obvious I'll have to succumb to peer group pressure and put a straight through on it.

But regardless, my Commer is offended :P

GDay Cunning,
No worries, I'll strap it on the back of something and get it to Sandown. Hopefully it's the right one, I reckon it came off a K125 we got from Scott Wettenhall about six years ago.
If anyone of you blokes crashes into a large white piece of fibreglass looking suspiciously like a roof scoop, well it wasn't me that dropped it, it was Chocs. Or Tim! Or Hayden... :o :o

Thought I'd give an update. Once the truck gets pulled down after haulin next year I'll start a thread up in the resto's section but in the meantime, here is a bit of what has taken place in preparation for club rego.

I put a wanted add up on the forum when I first got the truck home, requesting an airfoil and some 1/4 guards. within one hour I had a call from a great fella in Broadford named Lawrence who said that he had an airfoil that looked the same and that he was saving it for a special occasion. He flicked some photo's up to me........

He kindly donated it to me 8-) 8-), hopefully Chappo will get it over the weekend. It looks to be on the money as being the right type and I'm hoping that between lawrence's and prodrive's we'll have the right type :)

Later that day I had a call from Pat Vassallo who is a local up here. Most of you would know his truck.......

.........which shares the shed with a few other prized possesions. He'd rate as one of the happiest guys I know and his little fella Nick would be one of the keenest young blokes around who, a bit like me 35 years ago, is just obsessed with trucks. Anyhow, Pat rings me and says how happy he is for that I got the truck and what a cool story etc and then tells me he has a pair of 1/4 guards. I explained that I was being a conehead and wanted them to be exactly as it came out but thanks anyway. He said they were an old type and flicked a photo to me. Nearly rejected just what I was after :-[

Pat had his wife drop them over to me the next day (face it Pat, she's FAR more patient than any other old truck widow that I've met ;)) and they are brand new, never been fitted to a truck. Another donation to the project, thanks again mate.

The final one was a phone call from Basil (GMD) who called to tell me that he had computer problems and couldn't put comments down on the forum but he also knew about my quest to get this truck so was pretty stoked it's getting preserved. I told him I still needed a white 3 spoke wheel for it and you guessed it, he had one 8-). All too good isn't it??? It's on it's way and get this, Kenworth still have some brand new horn buttons and transfers to suit, going to pick that up today :)

Meanwhile, my good mate and Workshop Manager Glenn shares my passion for these and persisted in getting the cab up (blown ram) and pulled the covers off to see why the Jacobs were so quiet, only to find that one bank wasn't working and only 3 of the 4 were on the other side. 'O' rings and a water pump kit are coming so with any luck it'll be registered within the week. Glenn's been giving me high 5's ever since I bought it, not sure if it's because it's because he loves working on it or that he found a copy of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' in the bunk :o. Either way, I'm lucky he's into it

About the only other thing I need now is a period KW cast bug for the grill so if anyone has a decent one for sale please let me know. Max is out next month so with any luck he'll be able to have a steer. Thanks again to everyone who has helped, encouraged and contributed to this. Yep, I'm still smiling :)

Hi Cunning,

It is moving to hear how other people are willing to donate parts and help to achieve someones dream to restore a truck to it's previous glory with the correct period bits. It is a credit to all involved to start to find the bits to make this happen.

keep smilin' Cunning, You got a good looking truck there, with the history to go with it. See ya at the Haulin the Hume run.

Hi Clarkie, thanks for asking. I was going to respond yesterday but a photobucket glitch put an end to that.

Max came to Oz at the end of last year and called to see me. He didn't want to drive it, its a bit to tough a truck now that he's semi retired in a Volvo :D. Even still he was thrilled with the truck and Glenn (who's steering it on haulin in a few weeks) and I had a few hours listening to all the ins and outs of the truck, a truly fascinating time with a legend. Here's a couple of pics, I'm the tall one ;)

Since then we've ordered rockers and shafts to fix the jakes, replaced a few bits and pieces and also bought new window regulators to do away with the chain type, had battery box lids made as per original and finally on the weekend got the airfoil fitted :) :) :) :) :)

The foil will come off this weekend and be repaired before being painted white and temporarily signwritten for the Hume run. I've had a couple of health set backs that are slowing me up but with any luck I'll be able to pull it down at the end of the year for a rebuild

And wayne, he does remember me. I though he didn't but thanks to my old man I had an orange flag on my bike as a kid :-[ and he definately remebers me from that. Not much will happen until the end of this year but I'll put a resto page up once I get into it ;)
