Well, it's been a while but there's been a fair bit happening in the Garage Mahal here in Sydney. There'll be an update soon (after I load up photobucket again) but the next Cunning Alice or Bust project is underway

Time for an update. It's been a long time between drinks and most of you will notice that I've been laying low for a while. After last years Hume run, I was considering throwing myself in front of a bus
but decided to go overseas instead which is where all the Yakima photos came from. I had spent a bit of time ironing out a few bugs and cleaning the truck up before heading on the Hume run.
Fitment of the replacement Airshield airfoil that was given to me by Laurence of Victoria
Cleaned up and ready to hit Haulin the Hume last year, airfoil painted and mocked up in vinyl to show it's heritage
Some great pics below from Haulin taken by John Cant. The truck was driven on the run by a mate and all I wanted to do was swap him for the Commer
And its last 'formal' outing was at Clarendon where I threw Vic's Loadstar on the back for a bit of balast
So when I returned from the America trip, the world had changed at work and after 2 weeks I decided to throw my job in and bit the bullet to start my own business.
Things have been good and at Christmas I made the decision to pull the Kenworth apart and begin the rebuild. A lot has happened in a short amount of time and the aim???............... To take it to Alice Springs in 2015 with Max Keough sharing the drive across.
I couldn't think of a better way to tip my hat to such a great bloke

I took the truck to a mates place in Sydney to start the strip down. Unfortunately I live in suburbia so I have to plan very carefully so I don't get snookered. I made the decision to pull the cab so that I didn't have to travel every weekend to work on it and also it meant I could still have the kids at my feet. It also meant that I could do a nice thorough job with the paint. My ol mate Al Richo graciously has let me pull it apart in his yard and after another mate returned a favour by making a frame for me, we got to work. I have some good friends that's for sure, Vic and Glenn came over and put their diesel mechanic backgrounds to good use.
Pikey is doing the budget for Rachel while Al Richo phones a friend........I'll be needing some

And here's Vic, smiling because it's mine, not his
It was a teadious job tryig to get all of the pins and bushes out of the front hinges, but we got there eventually
Glenn wondering if I was all there or not..........
And there you have it, I'm commited now! I had a tilt tray bring it home and was pretty excited when the air horns ripped down the facia and guttering on my carport as I pushed it through :'(, but it's now in the garage and the stripping has been underway for a few weeks. The plan is to hand paint strip it before it goes to Moss Vale for the respray. Stay tuned................
