Looks like a pretty straight trailer.
It would nearly be a shame to put a steel floor in it.
If you are going to go that way though, 2.5 mm is too thin, 3 mm is a minimum, and if you are going to use 3 mm and want to run trucks on the back I'd make sure the runners underneath are right where the wheels go, it will bend pretty easy, 5mm is probobly right for running vehicles over it, but the wieght might kill it too, at a guess, going up another 2mm in thickness over that area would add 400-500kgs. The size of the runners will depend on how far down the main beams the crossmembers go through. If you use steel, dont weld the floor to the main beams, and the floor should be welded out underneath first, make sure it is sitting on the runners, we have a couple of 44's cut in 1/3s filled with concrete on steel wheels we run along our floors, and just overhead weld it in.
The other disadvantage of useing steel is that, depending on what runners you use under it, the floor will be probobly an inch lower, meaning you have an inch more of combing. Is the trailer 8' wide or 8' 2 1/2" wide? If it is 8' you might find the back wheels of a truck might want to ride up on one combing if you are carrying a truck, just take some 4 X 2's and lay it along side the combing for the tyres to run up on if it does.

I'm pretty sure I've got a Gal 12 gallon water tank out the back of the shed if that one of yours is buggered.

Looks real good behind your 190 too.

Dependable

I'll begin with 'I stand correcting on this comment'.

I wonder if the underrun supports (angle iron) in aborigonal?

Most McGraths I remember had a tapered flat (on its edge) raped on the back side with another bit of flat (bull bar upright style) - with holes punched in it - then the round tube bar (as yours has).

Sorry I dont have a photo - but no doubt someone will come up with one.

All just for what its worth - and in the interest of keeping it to a standard.

Either way - she is a bloody good example of how things used to be.

Chocs

That will be the one I'm thinking of. And I knew something else was missing - the mounting for the name plate and the light board underneath.

Mammoth-I'm sort of heading towards a steel floor.I think running runners lengthwise would be a good idea as i would like to take the odd truck or tractor to shows with it.Tipping it over to weld is a good idea as i also struggle to weld upside down.

Chocs-How are ya? Haven't seen ya for a while. Hope to catch up with ya on Haulin the Hume. Yes, I think the spread will be like a bit of a boat anchor holding me up in the corners.I better practice my double shuffle???? ;)

Swishy-Yeah mate, she's rain. Didn't want to take the old girl out in the wet but, couldn't wait to get it home.

V8 Inter Nut- It's not a bad old trailer for the works its done. It took me 6 years to get this one. If it comes half as good as your C line, I will be happy. ;D

Big Cam- I agree. Probably gonna go with 5ml with runners up the sides lengthwise. Yes,she's 8 ft wide and will have to use 4x2 timbers under the back wheels. Thanks for the offer on the drum but, this one seems to be pretty good. So I'm going to try and reuse it.

Old Fella- Yeah mate, tend to agree with you. Will try and keep it as standard as possible, at the back. I'm trying to think of a way to keep it legal, with the overtaking signs, without making it too unoriginal.

Jimmy on the Spot- Hi Jimmy, how ya goin? Yeah mate, it's finally home.

Treid to do a bit of sandblasting today.Only got to do the front half due to dramas. You learn something new everyday, my lesson is not to sandblast flattop trailers, what a pain in a$$!!! Here's is today's effort.

Hoping to pull suspension out and tyre carrier off for tomorrows effort.

This is what the old floor looked like. Was told the gaps in the timber were for when they carted sheep and it had a couple of grain shoots [12 of em] and as old mate said "we only useta put 40 ton on her" ;D

if the shoe fits wear it!!
