Defective, that blue & white one In Colin's post is a Diesel powered LN7000. Refer to the pics I put up in reply #11.. the 7000's had that air scoop on top of the Bonnet,
The Petrol powered LN700 didn't have any sort of Scoop.
Like this one.
You can buy this one if you want.

Would be a bit rare by now, I think as only 168 LN700s were ever produced..

Yes Ted ... My ol mans LNT8000 originally had a blue cat .... A Ford by Cat V636 .... The 636 was the cubic capacity.
There was another earlier version of the 3208 that had an inline injection pump instead of the later V pump ... The 1145 i think it was called .... It was a bloody long pump
You might Laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same

That's right Werk, I had a LN7000 many years ago with same blue paint on the motor & those Stickers on the Rocker covers..
Ford also used to Ignore the Cat Engine Number & issue their own Engine Numbers..
From memory they used the Chassis Number as the engine Number..

...Ford seemed to match their chassis serial, engine, and body numbers from about XY Falcon onwards ??

Great pics LN, thanks for posting them!
Isn't it great to see what comes out of the woodwork?
It's all very interesting stuff.
We are all learning something here too- (needless to say it's thirty or forty years too late, but too bad eh!)
Keep it up please fellas, it's great.
Cheers
Richard

liking them pictures LN700 your much smarter than the rest of us you took some photos most of us think about taking photo's long after the event
Also remember riding the push bike up to Beech Forest to meet the Hovey's trucks then they would chuck the treadly up on the trailer and we would give them directions back to the farm
With all the winding roads the drivers would say when we met them how far to the farm and I would tell them 3 miles 15 minutes later of just idling down the range real slow around the corners one of the drivers looked at me and says " are you sure were going the right way " and I replied "yeah were only half way there" everything slow on them mountain roads

LN, you must have had the biggest fleet of 700/7000's in Australia. LOL.
The 900 is the petrol equivalent of the 8000.
It's either an 8000 or 900, if old mate reckoned it used to have a CAT in it it's an 8000.
The 7000 and 700 have a narrower bonnet. The grill is the same width, but the mudguards are narrower.
Power steering was an option on the 900 and 8000 up until about 79 when Ford made it standard.
I've seen a few 8000's repowered with 6V53's, Telstra actually repowered a few of their 8000's with 6V53's in the early 80's. 555 Cummins fit in there pretty good to, look like they were meant for it.
The blue 3208, or Ford V636 was only in the earlier ones, I think by about 78 all the motors were yellow, still had the Ford V636 sticker on the tappet covers though.
Those fuel tanks on Prodrive's Mates truck aren't Ford ones, wrong steps and a bit short.
The 900 and 8000 only had 1 steel tank on the passengers side, later 8000's had 1 steel tank on the right hand side.
The LN(T) 900's were discontinued in about 79.
The 10 speed roadranger and Rockwell diff aren't standard either, would have had a 5 speed and a 2 speed Eaton diff from new.
Louey's never used the PBR CA300 handpiece from the factory either.
Seats been changed too, the 8000's with the 175 HP motor had the bench seat, and the 210 HP had the 2 seats. I don't know what the 900's had, I've seen one with the 2 seats.
Werk's on the money, it's grandfathers axe, not that there is anything wrong with that.
