Looking for a good running '60's inter 6 cylinder was created by wombat 46
Hi,
I am doing up an al110 with my son and need an Inter, running engine,
happy with a 'ran when i parked it'
but not a 'smokey' or 'overheated' engine at this stage.
i have all the mounting plates etc with column shift box,
just looking for options
can any one advise if i can convert this to floor shift?
and if so what do i need to buy?
many thanks
Jim

Jim,
Are you looking to convert from a 3 speed to a 4 speed? Or just want to do away with the old 3 speed column shift? If the latter, there are plenty of linkage set-ups around, like the old "IMPALA" floor shifts that were common for Ford,Holden or Valiant conversions from column to floor. Any decent speed shop would put you right, or keep an eye on "flea-bay".

Old trucks will make you poor but not unhappy

Wombat 46 try Cowra Truck Wreckers for your engine they've been wrecking Inters for years, if the early 3spd gearbox is similar to the later ones all you have to do to convert it to floor shift is remove the top of the box take out the detent lever plug up the hole and make a gear lever should be a standard three spd H pattern, I,ve got a box out of a D1100 and it works really well, that's had the same treatment

We put a 4 speed behind a 220 Silver Diamond in a 110 Inter and it bolted straight on. Just have to make sure you get one with the small spigot. The bolt holes were already in the 110 bell housing, tailshaft has to be altered and holes cut in the floor for gearshift and handbrake.

Did you follow oldgmc's suggestion & try Cowra Truck Wreckers??
I'd be very surprised that they couldn't help you out......

Hi Jim
I agree with Hayseed, I was over at Cowra last year, Inters everywhere. No idea of their prices on engines but thought they were acceptable on what I needed.

Yes they do have rebuilt ones but they are out of our budget,
i am sure they are good engines and worth the money.
we are just looking to get running at this stage so a used engine is what we are after.
anyone have one sitting around
