Reminds me of some of the ridiculous things we have probably all done over the years.
Before retirement, bought a 2003 Triumph Americain motorbike, left work and called in the local servo, that used to topping up the diesel Prado from the same pump and being a million miles away at the time, topped the tank off. Only got 100 yards down the road, started missing, burping, pig-rooting etc, back to the workshop, one of the mechanics asks, "Didn't put the wrong fuel in did you?"
"No, of course not! What do you think I am? Stup............ " Rip the filler cap off and took a whiff, sure enough! Luckily drained the tank and carby's, fitted two new plugs and away she went with no apparent ill effects. Workshop guys gave me a bit of stick for a while, "For a bloke who's been around trucks and earthmoving gear all his life, you sure stuffed that one up!"
As they say, live and learn, some of us just live!

A paddlesteamer is more my style, particularly if I can relax with a coffee (or something a bit stronger) and watch the world go by while someone else does the hard work!

Turned out the problem was gummed up jets in the carbie. Not sure if the tank I filled for him was dodgey or he picked up his own dodgey stuff on the way. Either way it all seems to be going well now
