They were so common back in the day hardly anyone has thought to bring examples into the historic fold. This one looks like it deserves a place, especially as it's diesel.

Australia Post had a lot of lazy axles with 240 petrol and 8 speed suitcase box...........the suitcase box was supposedly German made Eaton, and came as a six speed or an 8 speed with a range change ......same housing for either..........earlier D series had 4 speed Borg Warner or New Process or 5 speed Turner boxes ...which were not much good ....Nothing Turner made was any good ,ever .

I reckon the Turner box in my various Commers both 5 and 6 speed were the nicest small truck gearboxes to use of anything else I have driven. Many a car of the era had less smooth gearboxes.
Admittedly the first one was brand new but the other three trucks had half a million miles on them and still going great.

Commers had Commer boxes ,not Turners, the early bubble cabs had David Brown boxes. ......main users of Turners were Ford and Bedford ,along with some Leylands .....Spicer boughht Turner ,and the Spicer Turners were fitted to IH ACCOs in the 1980s and 1990s .....easily recognized as having no top .......Spicer sold Turner to Caterpillar ,who closed the factory down because nothing they made was any good.
