Your better to die trying than live on your knees begging

Last truck my grandfather owned was one of these after he retired
Was rust free and ran, just sat in the shed and he started it every so often, I think the brakes even worked
It sure was different to look at

They sure are a pretty truck. Front end nicely streamlined a little like the K/KB Internationals.
That sloping windscreen set it apart from its contemporaries and modernised its appearance.
That same cab was used on the Studebaker US6 6x6 truck of WW2. The vast majority went to Russia, mainly via the southern route through Iran. They were the truck used on the Alaska Highway and the Burma road. The main trucks for the US combat units in Europe and Pacific were GMC 6x6 for Army and International 6x6 for Marines. They were not a rare truck, Studebaker built 200,000 of them and REO another 20,000 under licence. The much more widely used GMC 6x6 numbered 550,000 only second to the 640,000 Jeeps in WW2 production.
The Russians continued to use the Studebaker cab on everything from light GAZ trucks to their heaviest tank transporters right up until the 80's.
Here is a light GAZ with Studebaker cab from 60's.
These same GAZ trucks can still be seen everywhere in the Russian countryside.
Here is a 1941-48 Studebaker pick-up with the same cab.
