Dad carried superphosphate out of Port Kember about the time I was born with one of those, it rotted away beside the bottom shed then went to scrap, its total working life probably 5 years, the cab was falling to bits from my earliest memory.

I think the cabs were timber framed.

Yes, Timber frame, the one dad drove for his uncle maybe did 100,000 Ks, over five or six years but was rooted at the end, but pretty good for a Pommy truck that were built to cart stuff around town, but pretty dismal when you can do two loads of board out of here into Queensland a week and knock out 250,000 ks a year, year in and year out, in a late 70s truck early 80s truck and now 45 years later you can only do the same and really it's with a copy of the 80s truck with a better radio and nicer carpet.

The steps from the 1940 truck's to the 1980's trucks was massive, the steps from 1980's to 2025 is sound insulation and a CD player and a mobile phone and a $100,000 paint job.

The two trucks pictured are very small, as you can see by the car-type "EziKlean" single wheels. I expect they are one ton carrying capacity vehicles based on the PV van, although I have never seen one built as a tray truck. PV is believed to mean Parcel Van and had the 15.9 horsepower four cylinder petrol engine as used in the LC and LC3. I believe it was the last Morris vehicle to have a wooden framed cab.

I believe that any truck that carried top dressing, despite looking vaguely similar, would have been considerably larger.

Morris.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Yes, Morris the one dad drove was dual wheels, but same cab, I have no Idea what capacity, I assume 7 ton, the next one was his, a LC 7 ton then a couple of Commers and then MANs till the end.

The 7 ton would have been the series 3 which was an altogether different truck with a pressed steel FE cab that was used on a few ERF's and had horizontal grille bars rather than the traditional Morris grille. Alternately, the earlier series ll 5 ton FV looked much the same and and used running parts from the 'Greengrass' NV model with dad just loaded it up till it squeaked.
