Plenty of cabs out west away from the coast, that are still sound. It is not that long ago you could buy a new cab without the doors, but you would probably buy a runner with plates for not much more.

They were a nice truck to drive ,but a nightmare to work on ......generally anything but a waterpump or compressor ,you had to lift the cab.........used to have big problems with the spline on the sector shaft stripping ,needing a rebuilt steering box.

Yes Yes Yes and Yes but I love them, if you are going to be sitting in something, in the middle nowhere, in the middle of the night you may as well be in something you enjoy. A few easy mods get around most of the above, first one is make the passenger seat a two minute removal.

Just thinking about what I just wrote, only time I ever pull the seat out, away from home was outside Borden Chemicals at Laverton in 1987 for a fuel leak on the back of the motor.

Best thing about the Louisville was the $160 windscreen replacement.........Volvos were $1100 and lots of drama ,the Ford was one phone call ,screen fixed 1/2 hr later.......If I was to buy an old truck to cruise around in ,it would be a LNT8000.
