If you can identify someone who can freight east or south a very reasonable rate there might be a few takers. Any chance of a picture or chassis number so we know what is on offer?. Rust in cab etc

Sorry for the vague description - I have put this up for my father :)

The ID plate reads as so:
Chassis No. L03142-241W02R
Engine No. 600-805T
No. 44
Leyland
Ley Motors
Leyland 21400

I don't have any pictures at the moment but will see what I can arrange.

There is a small section of rust in the cabin, however generally it is in reasonable condition.

Happy to receive phone calls. Please send me an email for a contact phone number chantelle.hutchison@gmail.com

Possibly a LAD Octopus,
engine number suggests a 600 leyland and these preceded the 680 power plus in the ergomatics.
Just a pissabolity

In the beginning God created Seddon and ERF

The chassis number tells all ;
L is the year 1966, 24LWO is 24 ton series lightweight, 2R is tipper (14'9" wheel base) right hand drive. The 600 motor is standard for the lightweight as are 900R20 tyres (tho in Aus we would have used 900 X 20). Choice of 5 or 6(overdrive) speed gear box but some export ones got the 7 speed. It will have the 4 spring non reactive suspension, probably with a 6.25 diff ratio, with option of 7.712 or 5.55. The power divider is lockable. It will have power assist steering and clutch and the conventional handbrake is assisted with air booster. I don't think the lightweight version carried over to the 26 ton series ergo cab models.
So it is a very late model LAD cab Octopus.

Gee Steve you certainly have the right reference books and a good memory as well. If it is a LAD cab it would be the same as your LAD Octopus you put pics up of maybe 2 years ago. They were a good bit of engineering. If it was an Old MSB truck from Sydney then i know hwere it's JB Talr crane is. They tod me the leyland truck it sat on went to Lightning Ridge to put a concrete mixer on. Might be the same.

Kind Regards

I am about to start a project with a similar model vehicle. I would like to know if there are going to be photos available and the general condition of cab and chassis.
