Leylands and Albions for sale - Swan Hill was created by Andy Wright
Hi guys
A mate of mine over here (has a Leyland Hippo) was rung by an old bloke who is looking to get rid of his old trucks from his Swan Hill property before his family sells it. Most are derelict from what I've been able to work out but figured you lot would be the best people to tell.
1948 Hippo, ex-Hydro in Tassie, only about 75,000 miles, 600 motor w/joey set to low ratio (but turn around to go faster), cab rough - wooden frame with ally panels.
1954 Beaver - single drive but did have tag axle. Had crane on it, not any more. 680, broken crankshaft. Full steel cab.
1972 Albion Clydesdale - 4 cyl. Long-door cab, 20 foot steel tray, runner and in good order.
Leyland with BMC cab (threepenny bit cab with silly doors?). 18 foot tray, electrolysis in sleeves.
Morris Commercial - 5 tonne, petrol, pretty good, has Summerdale (???? never heard of that one, phone line not clear) joey box.
Morris Commercial with Saurer diesel.
AEC Matador diff, springs, chassis
Spare 4-cyl Albion motor, sounds like a 5.7L?
375 cubic foot compressor with 600 motor - sandblasting plant
2 x hub reduction diffs off LAD Leyland (his words)
LAD chassis and running gear (Beaver), 10 stud wheels and two front axles
Various 680s, pumps, books etc.
I have no idea what condition these things are in. He is ringing me again tomorrow so I will see if I can get any photos. If you are interested in any of this gear, please drop me a line on andywright@westnet.com.au and I'll pass on his phone number. He has said he'd be happy with $10,000 for the lot but whether the gear is worth that...I do not know.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,
Just spoke to the garden gnome and he thinks $10K might be little steep seeing most of them have been outside.
Hate to see it happen but looks like Mr Simms might get them whate a pity. :'( :'(

To tell you the truth Foggy, I was thinking that as well but he seemed to pluck that number out of thin air. He didn't mention price until I asked him. Okay, not a wise thing to do perhaps but best to be as well armed as possible when you get into these things. He'd have to be happy with $500 for some of this stuff surely and I couldn't tell you whether it's all outside or not but, ofr course, it is highly likely (haha, I asked the "price" but not how they were stored!). The Clydesdale that is a going concern might generate a price to make him happy since it is a goer and currently working away from the property. But I agree with you, the rest won't go for much if it goes at all.
Will hopefully find out more tomorrow.

Foggy, That Morris Commercial would be the same model as Col. Mac's, they are a good unit and a real surprise packet on the road. Murray.
