Good one Baz,
Inters didnt continue with these for long and I heard they werent that successful. Do you know, is it a Neuss ( German) engine or Yankee built.
Regards Pete

Pete,
The DV-550 is a diesel version of the V-549 petrol V8 built in the US.
Both engines share some parts.
The 549 was a good engine from all accounts. Big heaps of torque.
The DV-550 was externally balanced and this was one of their down falls. Balance weight on front pulley was on the ring not the hub and if it moved on the rubber insert they would shake em self to bits.
Valve gear, piston and head gasket problems were common in our workshop also.

While we are talking about Inter Diesels...Has anyone ever seen a DV-170 ?? DV-550's little brother. Ive only ever seen one in an Inter Loader.
Dont be to hard on the old VT-190 Cummins. Still alot running around and if looked after properly and kept in tune I think they were okay....For a Cummins.

D170 is a derated DV550, they are the same capacity, they made a D150 and D190 as well they were a disguised DV550. The 550s little brother that we never saw here as far as I am aware was the DV462. The D150,170,190 referred to the Horsepower rating.
Come on Guys surely someone knows where one is holding up a tree.
Thanks, Hiroshimascreamer.

Give Alldiesels a call. Anything odd or older they have been able to find for me in the past.
