Wanted: Pime mover, tipper, flat deck or tautliner was created by pockets308
Hi, I am after a prime mover, tipper, flat deck or tautliner, I am looking for either a Mack, Kenworth or Western Star but would consider anything, must be running drivable and either registered or in roadworthy condition, looking for some thing with preferably a road ranger and bogie drive. Must be presentable as it is going to be used to instuct blokes how to drive. I have a buget of around $20k.
Let me know what is available.
Thanks Andrew

If you are setting yourself up as a training school first stop would be your registration authority as there will be specifications you have to meet, seat belts and ability to carry a load for starters, which will determine what sort of truck you need.

I think so too Phillip, there is plenty around too choose from. Just got to work out what will suit me and what people want to drive.

Hello Phillip
If you believe your clients are the type that wish to look at their truck and trailer from the reflection in the shop windows then buy a Kenworth. On the other hand if you intend to train people that our industry is in desperate need off TRUCK DRIVERS then buy a truck that at least has a constant mesh gearbox (most common name is Roadranger).
While our Company only runs European trucks and the need to ensure your Engine speed is correct for our road speed is not as important because of the gearbox. However it is better the driver knows how to change gears and only a constant mesh gearbox can afford that level of training.
I would never try to stop anyone who is trying to help bring people into this industry because we need them.
But if you do have all the instruments in place that can give you the authority to put people behind the wheel please ensure they can do the job.
