Hi guys.... Not sure what old jiggers Backyard Fixer is referring to,but Caterpillar engines (1673,1676) where fitted to imported Kenworths here in the 1960s and also Peterbilts as well. Cheers James.

There is lots of talk about GM, Cummins and Perkins. Nothing about Cat. I was thinking Cat was not in road transport pre 1990?

LNT8000 Louisvilles had V8 cats from the late seventies I belive, often refered to as ''throw away cats'' very common in concrete agies but the first cat motor I drove was in a LTL louie, in 1987, 1 of two O'Connell's brought from swanes in Dubbo in about 1984/5, other than a couple of 892TTA's, some MAN's and a commer knocker every thing else has been Cummins so I could not say cat's were that comon pre nineties maybe I just lead a sheltered life.

My Dad's 1978 IBC bus has a 3208 (?)
Incidentally, I accidentally found a pic of it online in its old working clothes!
Jarrod.
