GVM on an ACCO 1950D should be 13.9 or 15 ton. GCM might be limited with the auto. The ACCO D was ungraded half way through the model, later ones have Spicer front axle 5.4 or 6 ton.

KENNY You might be able to increase your GVM with 10.00 tyres, my old butter box on 9.00 is 15.? T and would have been 16.5 T if I was running 10.00.

think I would avoid the auto, they add to the thirst

good luck choosing

im heading down to melb on weds/thurs ill be having a look at the UD on the way down & the acco is in melbourne ... im sort of "steering" a bit towards the UD at the moment ..im guessing at over 700.000kms the motor has probably been rebuilt at some stage .. i like the handling of the bigger accos but if a VT190 is unreliable & the auto will obviously slow it down a bit (but the acco has a 55m3 body on it). . choices choices ..my missus is stressing im gonna get swine flu when im in melb ... i probably will im a bit embarrised to wear a mask :D

Gday Kenny,
you got more chance of winning tattslotto than picking up Swine flu. Any truck with that size body on it is going to need a fait bit of grunt. In my experience most Jap truck engines do between 600 and a million ks before needing a rebuild.
I dont think you could ever get 16.5 on your truck Sarge. It probably has a 4.5 ton front axle and maybe 8.5 at the rear, regardless of what tyres you are running.
Cheers Pete

I thought so too.... she was all painted up with GVM 16.5 t.....
bewdy I thought, I can make use of that, but as I only had 9.00 tyres on her and she predates the compliance plates the Vicroads people got out their little book and did their caluculations, I am back now at 14.5, but it would have been higher with the bigger tyres. No pun intended ;D

That gives me a fair bit more than I expected even still, and I am not going to question their arithmetic. ;D ;D

As to axles, its got one across the front and one across the back and they look like the would take a fair bit to break 'em. :o :o

Sarge :-X we got a long way from the original topic :-/ :-/ :-/
