Below are two well known vehicles in Israel, in front an IH M523E2 ex US Army, fitted with a DD 8-92T and a Transtar bonnet. The pusher is one of two Acars which was also a part of the IDF tender I mentioned in my previous post. KT525 and Alison auto, axles are IH M523E2. Still in use by operator. IH is pensioned. Bumping this to the top with a few more from Israel


A short-tail roadtrain rest on the road to Eilat (Arava Plains). One of the last real Autocars. Pic by I. Nachman who used to drive this truck back in the 1990s.

The IH has gone to big scrap yard in the sky long ago (written off after an accident). Also from Mr. Nachman.

This one is still alive and well - that's a recent pic even if the paint scheme looks very 90s, lol. Same source as above.

...g'day Tatra .. that must be a last gen Autocar that used the corporate design cab, and seen out here on the cabover White Road Commander 2 and Road Xpeditor in the early 1980's...she was built probably mid/late eighties...

...i believe that basic cab still soldiers on in the reborn Xpeditor range from a couple of years ago....cheers mate

Detective: yep, that's that cab and the lower version COE is still made by Autocar LLC which is a different company from the original which was swallowed by Volvo and killed... And we had them in Israel too.

I didn't know that... We had all four varieties (but very few RC I). From what I've heard they were all kidney destroyers and most had shock absorber and spring mods to make them bearable.

Could that be an air starter tank behind the drivers door??
