Hmmm .. I was always well-advised to use timber footing under legs. Ya never know what's down there .. or how poor the compaction has been. Unmarked Septic tanks are classics, I've seen some FU's with them catching blokes out .. :o

VK3UAO - How did that happen? I presume he was tipping and it fell over just as he got her right up? Most times, that results in a twisted truck chassis, and a written off truck. Brambles in Kalgoorlie were good at that, they used to write off a semi-tipper a week in the mid-to-late 1980's. They used to employ anyone who could hold onto a steering wheel .. ::)

Onetrack, I'm not exactly sure how it ended up on it's side, but I would imagine that you are correct in assuming that it happened when tipping from the trailer. On the positive side, this truck donated a few parts to my ACCO....

Hey Onetrack, remember when Gypsum became all the rage with the farmers here in WA. The boys that were using the old superlift trailers soon learned that sticky gypsum that wont slide in a superlift on soft ground was a FU looking for a place to happen. Especially if they had it up and gave the clutch abit of a pip to try and get it to slide. :D
You have no warning there going to go over until you get up onto the back axle. Fellas with experience were okay but the green horns were tipping them over weekly.

Here`s a couple from when I worked at TOP`s in the mid 90`s.They speared old mate when he got back to Sydney after this little incident, odly enough he`d been working for them for yonks and had a pretty good record.

He just remembered a bit late that he had the trailer pulled out.
