Here is the history of 819 as I recall....................
It started life as Kwikasair 1KT819 on the over night
parcel run. It did about 1.4 million Ks before being retired.
It then went to Alltrans Bulk Division (still part of TNT) ..
The pan was removed .....a centre mount Hiab crane.& brick bodies were
fitted that came off one of the old Leyland Cameronians that were being
phased out.....other than any thing required for the new rego. the only
thing done,, was to change the over drive( RTO915) box to a direct box,(RT915)
It then went to work carting bricks out of the Zacuba brick yard at Cecil Park
(west of Sydney) as 1BX 819. I drove it for about 4 or 5 years.
This time it was always up on top weights (some times just a teeny bit over)......???
I jumped out of this & into 838 when it fronted on the scene.
The Alltrans driver that jumped into 819, later bought it ,fitted a rear mount crane
,turfed out the 871 & 15 speed box, replacing it with an 892 & 13 speed box..
Re furbished the cab interior (even fitted air operated windows) & spent a fair
amount of dollars on it .
(Before I got out of it ,the disc BUDD wheels were becoming a bit scarce ..so a set of
really ugly adaptors were bolted on ,(.these accepted spider rims) giving TNT a few
spares.)
These were replaced with spider hubs as part of the up date.
Then it went back to work ,subbying for Alltrans still at Zacuba
.............TBC.............

I CAME INTO THIS WORLD WITH NOTHING & STILL HAVE MOST OF IT.........................

I used to be a truck driver,
but i am now not a truck driver ,
on a good day i can remember
that i used to be a truck driver.

819 cont................
The fleet no was changed to 832..... just to get it off the books & give it
some recognition for everyone.
Unfortually , it was involved in an accident on Stony Creek Rd ,Bexley &
was taken off the road.
The crane & brick bodies were taken off & put on a T-Line Inter 8 wheeler ,
That went on delivering bricks at Zacuba........
So... the cab chassis sat around for a while.......then some bloke bought
the 892 & box....the rest sat around for another while.....then was sold to
Alltrans Spares at their Yarramundi wrecking yard..(Nothing to do with
Alltrans TNT)
Then one day a yard clean up saw it sent to the scrap man,
I suppose it would have covered about 2 million Ks altogether
These KWs did give a really good run ......
It had an engine (in chassis) rebuild just after I got into it.
Another one just before I got out of it,,(bearing in mind a lot of eng
hours were clocked up in the unloading operation)
No box or clutch repairs.
Back diff was re-raced
Other than that, ,just general operating repairs
Right through out its life it retained the T-Bar rear suspension.

Well..........that's about it for 1KT-819 (1BX-819)......
(Did I hear some one say,, thank christ for that)
You never know ,,There could be another 819 story hiding
somewhere in the memory banks,........

Sad news Billy ..... but at least I can finalise my file on it ..... just need to work out what the go is with that one at Paul's place ..... all things point to it being an ex brick truck ..... but it looks like its had a lot changed on it

You might Laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same

Here is another 844 story

One afternoon i got back to the brickyard about 4.30
expecting to have to go out with another load and spend half the night finding the
site and unloading in the dark. Amazing the amount of times nearby people would
offer to help with lights etc, .the only times i ever got abused was on early starts.,
parked near some neighbours bedroom window while unloading onto a house site.
(which didnt happen all that often & you couldnt blame them really.
Anyway......the allocator tells me to load up for an early morning start.
9000 bricks to go to Putty (up the Putty road).
I says .......that is going to be over weight...........
i know .......the allocator says.........But..........if the whole lot doesnt go, there will
have to be a part load for the balance.......also...........there is an equal amount
there that was delivered earlier and the builder doesnt like them.
So you have to pick them up and bring them back to a re-sited house at Pitt Town
(out from Windsor)
As the truck and trailer only fits in 16 packs of that particular brick,..the
forkies had to put an extra 90 bricks in each pack to make up the load, some thing
they are not too keen on doing at all.
Anyway,we loads the truck and trailer,i wraps it up ....then fuels up and makes sure
every thing is ok for the early start..
I am thinking i will run it over the weighbridge and see what the weight is before
parking it.............It runs out at a bit under 46 1/2 tonnes....
Legal at the time was about 43 1/2 tonnes
Well . i just hope the scalies have a day off tomorrow.
OK......... i park it and then off home.
Got to be back to leave about 3 am (or part there of)
Then it will out through Riverstone,,,, across the Windsor Bridge,,,,through
Wilberforce,,,,,,,,then up the Putty Rd................
For your entertainment (i hope ) i have put together a small video.......
North Bound Windsor Bridge) Its my first attempt.....so.......dont
give me too hard a time about the result................

Thanks..........
Not knowing anything about making videos ,...i just used "Movie Maker "that comes with Windows 10.
I started with a dash cam video of Windsor Bridge ,that i took with our Troopy.
Then put that on the puter.......then opened that with "Movie Maker"......
Thats when you get the choice of all the tools that are available....
I broke the video up into mostly single frames (with the SPLIT tool)
That enables you to put any other videos (or parts thereof) or photo files
into that split area.
Trial and error was the name of the game.....stuffing it up then starting
again etc..etc..
You have a Titles or Credit bizzo for entering any captions.
Fade in & out tools for required frames.
Its just a matter of clicking on every thing, till you find out whats what
& hope you can remember it all.
When i got the visual bit near enough,,,,then the audio bit was the go...........
I copied the engine noise from the net & recorded it on my phone voice
recorder...........then played that in the back ground while i spoke the
voice bit onto the video. ( Forgetting most of what i was going to say
along the way) At this point you can move the audio bit around to suit........
Sooooo .....it did take me a while to do it.......But.........the more you do it
the easier it becomes ( i suppose )
There are probably a heap of programs you can use .......
But" Windows 10 Movie Maker" was my starting point....
Then put it on Youtube to get your Web Address so you can put it on
Forums etc...etc
Yeah........at times frustrating but you eventually get there..........

Yes, Well done BillyP.
(Don't own up to the technology-just tell 'em you missed your calling FFS)
Reminds me- 20 odd years ago my then young son conned me into a (borrowed) hand held thingo under Sydney Harbour Bridge for a school project.
How'd it go mate? Good Dad, but the teacher said the camera man was Shit.
