I am zigzagging between old and modern photos.
These were taken on a 40 km causeway linking Caibarien (mainland) to an island resort, Santa Maria. It crosses a few smaller islands (one of which has a small airfield), and has some bridges for fishing boats. Our driver did get into trouble for stopping to let us take photos.
See: < www.cayosantamaria.info/info.html> ;, which shows more of the island than of the causeway.
Google Earth gives a much better idea.
This YouTube gives a good idea, and there are others:

My group crossed four or six times, as the resort was our base for inspecting several sugar mills, museums and railways.
These photos are all from Wed.10.3.10, by me.

Here are my final five from Cuba 2010. I may have slides to scan from Cuba 1992, and Uruguay 1985. Both should have more USA time-warp vehicles.
