Did you get what you were asking for it?

Hopefully he doesn't strap a surfboard to the roof, these utes need to be in the dry weather.......

Was an older bloke, I'm pretty sure it'll be very well looked after.
First thing he did was take the wide rimes off it and put standard ones back on.

Ah, back to skinny 16's, 5" wide.......the bigger diameter rims do suit the old girls I think but it's nice to have more rubber on the road I think.
Mine will be running at least 7" wide original steelies with wide whites. The wheels will be made using two rims to make each wheel with one continuous weld as is allowed. Seven inch rims means I can run the biggest 16" wide white wall tyre at 235/75/16 :)
Original looks with a fat tyre. Will be using american stainless steel dog dish hubcaps with the red painted centres as used on all Crestline models over there.
Should look pretty snazzy 8-)

And another 3 years has passed.........
The Mainline is actually and realistically close to being finished and on the road.
As I write, the Red Gum boards for the tray are being finished and there are only the dash knobs to get refinished and the old valve radio to be installed :)
Though there are probably other little things I haven't thought of yet......

With regards to the chrome wheels in the picture, they are not staying on the car. I have widened original 16" rims in 6" front and 7" rear sizes with white wall (mega dollar) American Classic radials to be fitted.

The Mainline has been entered in this years Bay to Birdwood anniversary event in late September, in the concourse judging no less. My Dad and I have enjoyed many of these events over the past decade so it seemed a fitting debut for the old ute. We are also taking my parents' 1935 Ford Fordor, in black with Apple Green pin-striping and matching wire wheels, as per original.

Hopefully, the event is still on!! At this time there has been no correspondence to say it even might be cancelled or postponed, so fingers crossed.
Love to have a chat to anyone from the forum that might be attending as well!!

How did you widen your rims? By using new wider rims and removing the old centres out of the ole rims and welding them into the new?
