there is an interesting mix in all of this, and that is the contribution made by International Harvester USA when it was finally realised our beloved CO 4070's were literally falling apart at the seams...our rough Aussie roads... and (with all respect) their American aluminium cabs

...the upshot is we started seeing the ''Atkinson by International'' Mk 2's around the same time as the demise of the 4070's...about the mid 1970's...
...not too far down the track the steel cab F 4870's made their appearance, and which by all accounts, was proven to be a very successful truck indeed....and these Aussie produced bangers are still held in very high regard

....... the twists and turns of the corporate world......
