Overlander thank you for finding that.....a great read.... and you are right David, but trawling google was not on my agenda.....
I have some hazy idea that trucks badged Foden are just that but ERF is some cousin.
Wonder what motor is in this old truck.

Remember seeing the odd one around when I was a lot younger, they had mostly Gardners as well, although have seen a few with Crummins 220 and 250's.
Wouldn't swear to it, but think
I recall also reading where you could option the Rolls
Royce engine.

You might Laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same

They was borthers and Foden wanted to keep making steam lorries and Eric ???? wanted to use the new fangled internal combustion jobbie
Pretty sure the story went along those lines, Foden didn't start with these two, these two were a generation or two into the Foden story

The brothers split jn the 1930's with 'ER' designing the first truck in a glass house and which survives today. They used bought in parts and used Gardner motors from the get go whereas Foden made most parts in-house . Very few of those KV (Kleer View) cabs, introduced in 1956, came to Australia so this is a very special truck.
There is a book titled "the Feuding Fodens"
There is an Australian connection as one of the Fodens left the business to farm in WA but was later called back when things were going bad.

This one would have suited you, Lang.
Bought new in 1929 by the current owners grandfather from the Chev dealer in Narromine. Restored by the current owner some 20 years ago, but unfortunately left in the weather for some time.
On it's way back to Narromine, into the custody of the original owners great grandson.
