Iz this the same setup from VicRoads??

Heavy vehicle licence category
To drive a truck or bus with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) greater than 4.5 tonnes or a bus
which seats more than 12 adults you will need a Victorian heavy vehicle licence.

Heavy vehicle licences are issued in five different categories:

Light Rigid (LR)
Medium Rigid (MR)
Heavy Rigid (HR)
Heavy Combination (HC)
Multi Combination (MC)

These heavy vehicle licence categories have different eligibility requirements.

Swish, I did a cut and paste straight from the act of parliament...

Mr Vic Roads & Mr Poli Ceman use the same words...

and as we can all see a Heavy Combo has a 9 tonnes GVM trailer ATTACHED.

Good on you Sarge- it's the facts that matter, the rest is all speculation and opinion.
Which is even more reason to fight the silly charge- you are correct in "fact", as well as common sense! (Which can be a nice change for us dangerous law breaking criminal truck people)
Paying up just encourages more senseless bureacracy, justified by their figures showing the "results" they have achieved!
Cheers and good luck.

Hi All, my 1'6 worth,
the class of vehicle boils down to what it is rego'ed as,,,
hr is a vehicle that is Body truck + small trailer not exceeding 4.5 tons
hc is a vehicle body thuck with a trailer exceeding 4.5 tons eg (super dog--3 axle) or semi trailer with a dolly or small trailer under4.5 tons
then you go to MC which is any vehicle that can tow multiple axle combination EG (body truck capable of towing more than one trailer Or semi trailer with 2 trailers or more The cop could be in the right' or not, it depends on what the vehicle is regesterd to do,,,,,, you can have 2 trucks the same with different VCM and one would be le'jit and the other not I'ts a tricky one and if he checked over the radio he could be in the right (I hate the fact that a cop could be right)

when I went to get my Road Train licence .
Th chick said "won't be a moment"
She comes back with a bloke .
Mr Zoomie , I am her supervisor , when she saw your Road Train test result , she was not sure , she had not seen anybody get 100% before . Actually I have not either . I said , "well if you drove Road Trains for over 20yrs , wouldn't you think I would have it right by now".
That RT looked great on my licence for 10yrs . Th MC just ain't got th right ring to it.

A local guy had a prime mover which he put a frame on the back to transport his self propelled windrower around. The turntable was not removed and still under the frame. He told me that the then RTA told him his son couldn't drive it with a HR licence, he had to get a HC as the truck was registered as a prime mover. This was what he told me, not sure if it's right or not. I think Olmate should contest the fine as it seems pretty trivial to me, but even if he wins and there is points involved he may still lose them. Just my thoughts. Stephen

In NSW, if you win your case, you DO NOT lose your points. Don't know about other states.

Absolutely ridiculous, I think common sense has gone completely out the window.
A court appearance would be in order if it was Me.
If the courts have time to hear petty squabbles by F1 teams and drivers that have zero to do with our justice system I am sure this would be heard with astonishment by all involved.
On a similar note I recently chatted with a retired couple who owned a HR Motor home.
Male had his licence pulled on medical grounds, Female has to upgrade Her licence.
Had to go through the whole RTO process including load restraint.
I don`t know how often one would use a Dog and Chain on a Motor home but I don`t think it would happen often.
