Wes Searle Overnight Express later became Aluform Express, had their depot in Barney St. Nth Parramatta, had some very quick 4 and 5 series Dodges with the 7 series V8 and 5 speed box, extractors and 4 barrel carb, and to the best of my knowledge it is now Transtar Express in Holbeche Rd Arndell Park NSW.

Gotta remember these guys were tight asses .... Never bought power steering until it was standard fitment ..... ::)

They ended up fitting "sure guides" to try to rectify the problem of getting them back onto the bitumen after running on the shoulder. The steering would almost rip your hands off before they were fitted.

If I've read the same stuff it looks awfully like ASIC wielding the big stick against a little bloke when they've been sadly ineffective against the big uns.

Not saying Wes wasn't naughty but on the scale of things....

As for Wally, definitely in a different league albeit a different time too :o

Did the ghosts ever come spec'd with a sleeper or 3/4 cab, or were they strictly a day cab?

All day cabs except for KT813, the Darwin runner, which was a sleeper.
however ..... Some Darwin subcontractors had both 6x4 and 8x4 sleeper rigids that were painted GRS

My take on the 15 box...........

Direct or over, they were probably the most popular box in their day.....so .......more were made....

that possibly made them cheaper (may be).......... dollars do come in to it.

nothing like having a fleet box all the same...especially when its nearly indestructable & easy to use.

with o/d just for the speed bit.

my guess is they never ever thought about the after life.

but as Greenie said .normally. even for the movers .deep red, just would never be used..........But ......

im certainly glad it was there for the Zacuba blokes . cos ...without it we would have never got in to

some of the buildin sites with boggy ground & mere inches of side clearance....not to mention the steep

entry points etc. (even just for the slow speed bit gettin into some sites was handy)

So there you have it (in my opinion) a good box, relativly cheap , so chuck her in baby..........BUT..

blank off that thing that might get them into trouble
.................Billy.....................

I CAME INTO THIS WORLD WITH NOTHING & STILL HAVE MOST OF IT.........................

I used to be a truck driver,
but i am now not a truck driver ,
on a good day i can remember
that i used to be a truck driver.
