I think some rust converter will fix it!

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

It looks like the square tube has just pulled out of a zero penetration weld. Maybe it is a clean break along the welding heat-hardened line?

The trouble is the shackles are wrong polarity, one is blue the other is red, which has set up a negative reaction, causing the weld to lose its magnetism. Easy solution change them around and problem solved.

I've heard of welding in an emergency by using 2 x 12 volt batteries, jumper leads and some arc welding rods. Probably be best to keep those safety chains on after a dodgey repair too!

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

I wonder how many people carry the welding rods and a piece of shield to be able to attempt the welding task.

Of course if the same person did the field weld as the original weld there isn't much hope.
