I wonder where the fourth one went?

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Did the Foden break down or are they waiting for the chains to break.

He must have been a virile man to have four children and be entrusted with a brand new Scammel (see the new tyres on both the truck and the trailer) in about 1930.

I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Morris, I would have dated that in the latter half of the '50s, but wouldn't be surprised if it was later.

V8Ian,
You could well be correct. On second thoughts, in 1930 the trailer probably would have solid rubber tyres.

Wrap round screens in a glass fibre cab were all the rage for a number of pommy truck makers in the early 60's, and Scammell stayed with flat screens longer than most.
