Eye bin think n

me nose eye shouldn't do th@

but bin think n

OK
On a 'V truck U can't get in under bumper to hook on to axle or front spring hanger

then yanky wankers wiff the front out of truck
shoulda hooked on to load or trailer n the truck would be pushed along on a decent snig

so spose n the only way to tow a 'V' truck iz wiff a under lifter

when we get stuck/boggd/bellied out
we hook on trailer n tow th@ way n the prime mover truck will find its way B n pushed by loaded trailer

Q:? Do 'V' trucks have a front tow bar/hook etc

With regard to our Volvo's front tow hitch yes we do have tow hitches. Firstly the Volvo has a full depth chassis right to the very front, attached to the chassis is the front crossmember, on the right hand side it has 14 bolts and the left hand side 12 bolts holding it on.
The crossmember has 2 attachment points for towing that allow you to insert a towing eye.
Now what we have done is design a front tow hitch that has 2 plates of 20 mm high tensile steel fitted inside the chassis using all of the 26 bolts available. The tow hitch is fabricated from 20 mm high tensile plate and uses the 20 mm side plates welded to the top with 3 run 2 layer weld, plus the 2 original towing points using 24 mm bolts.
We have tested these tow hitches in the field moving a Transformer from Brisbane to Newcastle with 2 off 14 line platforms and Beams. The trailers were allowed 15 tonnes per axle giving an all up weight of 420 tonnes on Cunningham's Gap we used 5 prime movers on the front and 2 pushing at the rear. Now please don't tell me we needed that many because of the Volvo, it is not a matter of power with this type of weight as it is traction. We have come to a halt breaking traction before on Cunningham's with smaller loads with only 3 on the front and 2 pushing, the Volvo's can break traction in 2nd gear on a dry sealed road at 800 rpm with 18.5 on the drive.

Now that's a useful bit of knowledge, (free fer nuttin and common f* sense too, if ya think about it).
Drag the loaded trailer any old rough and ready way you like, they're still cheaper, stronger and less sensitive than trucks.
Straight to the pool room with that one.

ta,
Good one Swish, (Should I live long enough to use it. ::))

Are you admitting that you can't find a photo of a Volvo with the front torn out. Anyway 181 pictures of Volvo's I simply had no idea you were that interested in the mighty Volvo, that you had such an amazing collection. Now as for the definition of a real Truck let me see if I can get a Volvo to meet some of your requirements.
A Volvo is not a Pickup
We have a very good reason to choose short cab over prime movers, we move a great many loads that are long, a short prime mover often reduces the number of Escort Vehicles required. It is a simple matter of being competitive.
I tend to think the windscreens in our Trucks are a good deal smaller than most of the new Bus's we see. I guess there is some likeness but think it is more a personal thing.
We have more than enough spider wheels on trailers, in fact if you need any 20 inch spider axles we have heaps. It is no longer viable for us to do major rebuilds on older spiders, just pull them out and replace with new 10 stud.
Now as for sound a 700 Volvo on full power at about 1200 RPM can make street signs vibrate. If you don't believe me just come and watch when we are climbing a hill in Sydney at 3 or 4 in the morning.
Well we have a couple of little Freightliner's with 18 speed gearboxes, the balance either Volvo or Mercedes have auto shift, we would never dream of going back to manual transmissions, it is 2015 after all.
I very much doubt you could buy a new Truck today without a Computer. Swishy it is a Computer you send me all these lovely pictures and messages with, or is there some other gadget you have, mabee your's has vacuum tubes.
Attitude is just a state of mind.
Yes the Volvo has very few gauges and they do have pictures on them rather than words, guess when your market is Worldwide, selling Trucks to people who speak so many different languages, you need solution and pictures are it, just moving with the times.
Now what would you prefer high impact moulded Plastic or stringy stuff glued together with resin.
Our Volvo's drink Diesel.
We have dual wheels on our Volvo's
As mentioned before we spec our Trucks and they do have spring rear suspension.
Just for the record we are currently delivering 85 tonne Concrete beams to a new road construction, it has been raining and conditions are bad, the contractor is towing the Volvo's in with a rather large Grader. So yes Volvo's do go off road and they do get mud on them, because they are big and strong and you can tow them without fear of ending up like a couple of American trucks we have seen.
