swishy that would be one of the high mileage ones just looking at some of the others.
Some of them haven't even done 100,000 km.
And Mack/Volvo and Western Star have quite a few there painted up iridescent blue that never got delivered.
Good chance you'd get a good deal on a brand new one.

Swishy mate.
We have a couple of 660s same age about 420,000 kms that we intend replacing, prior to this we would have thought somewhere in the vicinity of $140,000, the next few weeks will be very interesting. Considering what Gray's have is only a portion of what will be for sale. The problem is everything is suited to the Heavy Haulage market, in this climate there is too much late model heavy gear for the industry to absorb.
I can only wonder if the Bank executive that wrote all this lovely business, is still the golden head boy he was in 2013, near enough to 20 million dollars.
When Jon Kelly started spending in 2012 / 2013 many of us (the older ones at least) were saying, it will be one mother of an auction when it happens, and now it has arrived , well at least stage one is here and it is big enough on it's own.
It would be almost impossible to predict what the sale will be like.

Hi Rex .. the ATO is inviting transport operators to depreciate their heavy vehicles over a longer time frame, so here may be an opportunity to use that advantage and ride out the current shitstorm of a market flooded with extremely keenly priced late model good gear....
....jeeez .. where will it all end ??

Gentlemen, including my mate Swishy, can't leave Swishy out even though it is becoming more difficult to wind him up. Firstly I was not aware the Tax office was asking us to offset their generosity to the Small Businesses, that could go out and splurge $20,000.00 on something, then claim all the deprecation back immediately. Well for me I will leave things just as they are, sorry Joe.
Secondly The money lenders took the risk, it is called greed , now they pay the price. Unfortunately those of us that just plodded on will suffer, this Country within the heavy haulage business is simply not big enough to absorb the amount of gear that is now on sale.
The flash Prime movers will probably sell, after all there is no shortage of steering wheel attendants that just want to be seen, steering a truck with a long bonnet and I understand why, I just love to get behind the wheel of my DiamondT 980, now that is a truck with a long bonnet, the problem is we are not back then, we are now where while Jon did for a while realised the future was with real trucks, short powerful and built by none other than Volvo, he lost his way with more trucks I would never entertain.

Hi Rex .. i wasn't referring to the ridiculous "free" money handout that has so many small and useless business's jumping for joy....
...IT is all to do with the proper depreciation of gear purchased, claimed as a tax liability, and then disposed of at the end of its REAL working life...extended from 4/5 years to 7 years.....
...any good Accountant will tell you the details of these changes/opportunities made over the last few years......

Given the choice of depreciating something over 4 years or 7, I'd take the 4. The faster it is depreciated, the quicker your investment is claimed as a tax deduction. The tax office gets it back anyway if you sell it and make a capitol gain.
Rex, I doubt you'd be eligible for the 20 grand mate, like everything the tax office offers, it sounds great, but it is limited, I reckon you already know that anyway. LOL.
