That's interesting Paul,
When metal detectors came we spent time around Meekatharra, one wall of the shop was covered in photos of their trucks working, have often wondered what happened to them.
The diesel bowser was in the back lane, you filled yourself up and back to the shop to pay for it, no cameras then just your word for it.
A different and more pleasant world.
David.

Now that's the one.

My old mind must be going because I thought it was in Black & White.

I especially remember when 'new chum' was shown the gears, addressing the 'passengers' and the cattlemen song.

Many thanks fellas. :)

A cracker, thanks for the link.

Who's to say it wasn't shown on TV at some point? I used to think the Smiley films were black and white until we got a colour TV....

I would never have picked the singer for Frank Ifield, ("I Remember You") until reading the credits. My eldest uncle was in the army(?) with him, apparently he was too shy to play and sing in front of anyone at that time (this would be mid 50's)

Jarrod.

Smiley films. Two great (IMO) movies. I remember my mum taking me to see them at the movies when I was about 5 years old. Still got them on DVD.

Paul,

You'll have to ask Andy Wright (search the members list) for more information as to my understanding he took the pic, as said, at the Rick Thege collection in Ballarat.

Cheers

Thanks Tatra & Paul, good viewing and reading. I visited Meekatharra in the early 60's and can remember road trains and the Bell organisation. Alas no pictures 'cos in those days taking photos was a more expensive exercise.
