Brocky, lots of ex-army trucks were used for transport after the war, the owners used to make a cab for them or adapt an old cab from a scrap vehicle. The truck in the pic looks to have a prewar Mercedes cab mounted on it.
Here's a couple of other examples, some were scratch built, others were from whatever was available.

The THurston truck and the next are NM 6x6 ........quite a few of them in the Oz army ,sold in 1974 for around $800 ...........we bought a few ,and I put a Mack 673 P motor in one.

Incidentally ,an early flintstone in the Gatton auction yard ....ex Western Transport by the door..........looks very clean and rust free ....$6000 ...no motor or box...............would have been a 711 and quad box .
