Spotted another of Rex's Volvo's with float behind it at Halfway Creek (near Grafton) this afternoon.

Looked like it was using a fraction of it's substantial power to tow it all.

I looked and the driver didn't have any lipstick on!

He is now on a good earner towing windmill blades (biggest in Aus) Newcastle - Glen Innes. Only 230 odd to go, and then there are the tower sections. All up 700 oversize movements. Motel overnight.

Hmmm! Rex is obviously working flat out making a quid!
Was hoping for a few 'last hurrahs' to wind down the year in the what has almost become required reading, the Yank Vs Euro V'bus battle.

Good Afternoon Gentlemen.
We have just taken delivery of our first two 700s with the new gearbox, now listen very carefully Swishy. Just so our drivers don't get it wrong, when we select the deep low gear you can also select your speed on the cruise control. Add 200 + tonnes release the brakes, a little squeak from the Michelins and we roll away at idle maintaining a speed of less than 2 k/h. Say what you like we were grossing just over 250 tonnes slight uphill about 2% the Volvo lifted off at idle. I have seen a large number of trucks moving off from a start with large loads, nothing matches the new 700 with this gearbox. As for White Rock Wind Farm located at Glen Innes we not only have the challenge of the 720 major loads from Newcastle there are 80 Tower sections from Portland Victoria to come via Newcastle. Road modifications for the project between Newcastle and Glen Innes is now approaching $200,000.00. Part of the reason I have been quiet is due to our current workload.
