I can't help watching what you are building and if you recall I have made a couple of comments. Call it interference but on each occasion my remarks / questions have nothing to do with the Kenworth / Volvo banter.
The outer beams are open and therefore subject to collecting both moisture and dirt. While there may have been some treatment to preserve the steel before fabrication some will now be bare due to the welding, our experience is where there is an opportunity for both moisture and dirt to accumulate you will get serious rust. We have found the best protection is smelly Fish oil and when you apply it flood the thing with it let it soak in then drain off the surplus.

we have had a few changes in the make n of the expando
the main beams are hollo as we gunna make it extendable 6.5m+ closed --- 12m open to suit 40 container etc
then add a nother axle of 8 on airbag
runnin the 2x8 dolly we may get just under 70t P/Load
the hard will B get n the G/Neck links correct so it will fold n B the correct deck height

Swish man I was gunna ask you about this as I wanna change the geometry on mine to lower the rear of the top deck so I can fit other things like scrapers etc on there easier

just thro a cupla twigz down so U can waltz up to the neck with the tyres





Also U can cut the last cupla X members in neck n make m bolt in if th@ can help

all taken on board bout rust
we have had xperience with rust from many moons ago
we have also noticed any cavity in the frame where no air circulates can cause rust
so we try inlimin8 any place where stale air is
also now all equipment is stored under roof in B F Shed

Now well underway wiff the goosey neck LOL
