They don't have tailshafts.

They use a transaxle as the engine is in the rear.

Geoff you got one on the hook.

I saw they had to remove the tail shaft completely and bodgie up a drive using shafts out the side of the gearbox. Must have been a big job.

Here is the Lacre (I never knew how that was spelled Swishy) band tensioning device.




And as everyone knows VW's have air cooled engines.



PS Just looked in the MacQuarrie Dictionary.

Lacker (Lackey in WA or when talking down to children) band is short for Elastic Band in Strine.

There was one of the Studebaker adjustable wheelbase trailer toters at the ATHS show in Lexington KY this year. You could see the various mounting bolt holes for adjusting. they must have carried a short drive shaft with them?
