The flat black washer in these old waterpumps is hard pressed carbon,probably graphite......if the seal is stuffed,most bearing places have a selection of modern sealing stuff with ceramic seals etc,that can be substituted ,sometimes with a bit of machining of the housing and shaft.,......and a Bedford waterpump bearing assy ,wouldnt be surprised if a Chev one wasnt the same,and maybe Holden..............the old carbon seals could run dry without damage,but a ceramic one will burn up in a few seconds without water.

Thinking of selling my project. It has been parked up in a shed now for 3 yrs since I started it and backed it in there. I've done nothing to it really since I bought it. Got way too many projects and I bought it to get running and registered to use on my 100 acres. I now no longer have the 100 acres so really don't need a truck.
