Ok we have a D5n 600 it has vacuum over hydraulic brakes. It's looking like it is going to get repowered with a 6v53 and we are looking at options for braking systems/park brake. Was thinking about going full air.
Does anyone know of a good option for a front axle?
We can get a 1950 acco for a fair price so would use the rear axle from it. Not sure about the front if it will work or not.
Cheers.

I guess you're looking for a lot of work and headaches??
Presuming that you have the Rockwell axles on spiders
Why not stay with the hyd brakes and fit an air over hyd booster inside of the chassis rail and air tank,
Hence no need to go to a treadle valve,
To fit a treadle you need to either firewall hang it or cut a damm big hole in the floor both still need extensive stiffening
All new lines ,boosters ,tanks, and possibly engineering cert
I have a 1979 d5n with 3208 cat
Rockwell axles
Nine speed and two speed diff
Have just done all wheel cylinders
New rear linings ( old linings worn out)
Had to fit new rear drums (the most expensive parts)
Had all whl cyl and m/cyl resleeved s/s
Brakes are fantastic exceeded my expectations
And in reality how many Klms are you going to be doing
Unless it's your daily drive??
Just my two cents worth BWWIN

You can remove the treadle from the valve and mount it where the master cylinder is now.You can also get a small brake valve that we used on the BHB cranes, you dont need multiple outlets if no trailer braking is needed.Make sure you go to dual systems, with two boosters and separate systems to front and back axle. The problem with air over hyd,is you may not know the system has failed until its too late.My little Leyland Terrier has this system,as did 80s ACCOs.They used a double booster thats a bit complex, but worked OK.Single line hydraulics and weak handbrake can lead to exciting moments.

Well. That was the plan. Do air over hydraulic. But we need a gearbox with a handbrake on the back of it. I can get the RR out of the acco without buying the truck but it doesn't have the handbrake on it.
We were going to use a t54 international box but input shaft is to long and small. Bs long and thin goes to far in. So we are looking for the easiest. And cheapest way. Lol. Just looking for ideas.

I have no dramas with fitting the brakes. That will be the easy bit really. Sort of really was wondering what would need to be done to use the front brakes off the axle. Out of the acco

Your front should be a Rockwell, there might be an air brake backing plate to match, but finding it ?Depending on the age of the Inter,it will have either an IH axle,or a Rockwell.Easily told apart,IH is 6 spoke ,R,well 5 spoke.Maybe the front brakes and swivel assy from a 700 Louisville might be the same.Having a wrecking yard is handy when youre doing conversions.Bear in mind that what you are planning on doing isnt legal on the road without engineering approval costing more that the truck is worth.

Why not just fit a vacuum pump and reservoir?
Pumps are cheap, try Summit Racing in the States, and a tank can be any old air or liquid tank of about 4+ litres.
We fitted just this to a Lancia 037 we own when we modified the factory supercharger set up so we lost our vacuum supply point.
Worked very well.
