I wonder if it is a sun roof or a full time modification for the crane operator, back window and roof gutter line look like they have been changed. The mighty ACCO in its many guises.

This was a common system for truck mounted cranes.
Here is a picture of my Bedford/CAP Crane. No roof with backward facing seat and driver sticking out as in the ACCO - although he seems to be standing up. Full foot controls, a long extension on the gearstick to get 1st and reverse but the steering (facing backward) was done by a left/right lever controlling an hydraulic ram on the tie rod (like power steering ram).
The crane was 10 ton and we could walk a full load (very carefully with short extension). 360deg slew. Rear suspension had about 3 inches of clearance and when a load went on it would sit down on axle blocks to make a solid unit. It was quite stable.
