Just wondering about this power demon ACCO, did they have to do some fancy modifications to get air into the air cleaner... is that a little scoop on the bonnet.??
I know how noisy my truck is even after I blanketed everything.... these must have been deafening.

The ACCO's were noisy, whole cabin like an echo chamber or sounding board.
Think it was a 2150 prime mover with 555 cummins a bit quieter, better sound deadening.
Interesting to see White & Diamond Reo tandem tippers with added single pusher axles.
Saw a lot on single drive units and an odd one on bogie semi trailer.
Thanks for the interesting photo's. Paul.

D and J Ward Haulage Contractors from Balgownie Rd Balgownie.
When D and J Ward sold out John Ward purchased this White from the new owners ( I think Mayne Nickless) and fitted a non slewing crane and Perkins motor. It was rebuilt again and was on the cover of Truckin' Life's Classic Trucks magazine

D and J Ward's International with a house load of timber for the driver Andrew Lorrimar who loaned me this photo.

Imported secondhand from the UK by Hills Spares , this K500 Dodge was powered by a V8 Perkins.
The new ones that I have seen came out with V6 GM's

Thats a wild looking load of timber on the Inter, having never carted sawn timber it may well have been normal to carry it in a mixed show like that
I have seen old films of mid north coast NSW trucks all loaded a bit like that, not quite as high though

R.J. Young P/L was the Wollongong AMOCO agent and later when AMOCO sold out he became the agent for BP. About this time the company name was changed to Youngs Fuel Haulage. They sold out to Alan Doherty Transport in the 90's
RJ Young's AEC Monarch

RJ Young's F12 Volvo. This truck was featured in a Volvo ad in Truck and Bus Transportation Magazine. It was later painted in green and white similar to BP colors.

Long time driver my brother Bob standing in front of Young's Fuel Haulage new F12 Volvo. They brought 2 new Volvos at the same time.

Cleary Bros Museum open day was supported by these trucks from the Shoalhaven. All Mack truck photos taken on the day are on the Nothing but Mack Pix forum category.

In 1960 the owners of MHP Carrying Service started Sydney Illawarra Bulk Loading PL that allowed operators to load their trailers on their rail siding. Sorby's LTD had hardware stores across the state and utilized this service and Keiths photos shows loading at Coniston and unloading at Wagga Wagga and the way the trailers were tied down
