Its all about "What might Happen" (which never does) so make a rule.
Whinge, rant and complain about government interference until a dog craps on your nature strip then whinge, rant and complain that the "The Government should do something". Joseph Stalin, where are you when we need you? Let the government control everything and relieve us of any responsibility, need to plan or even think.
The most depressing thing about seeing the stupidity of the average person is that 50% of them are even more stupid!

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"
I really could not care less about the tiny numbers of people "rorting" the system. What would it be ... 5% ? if that. Far as I'm concerned, the more of these classic machines still able to be used the better! 'tis a wonderful thing to see an old sixties / seventies wearing out their tyres and drivetrain rather than rusting away, or taking a luxury cruise ship to china/taiwan/korea

I thought the SIVS rego there was $50. The last SA rego I had was $5 a year for a Deutz Jupiter and 34ft trailer,IS of course.Reckon they might be trying to catch up for all the years when a SA red and white plate rego was 5/- a year.

I built a 1942 Dodge Carryall at a mate's workshop in Texas a couple of years ago before shipping it home. When I had finished 5 years' vintage registration (over 25 years) was total $64. No limits, restrictions or rules except no commercial operations. Found some original 1942 number plates at a swap and had to take them in to the registry so they could judge if they were not mangled or illegible. They were in good, but not perfect, condition so the vehicle was registered with those plates at no extra charge.
Took it on a borrowed tandem trailer and found the OWNER, not the vehicle, gets a trailer plate for about $50 a year and can put it on any trailer, (not semi) regardless of size.
It is so easy if there is a will.

To see some of the junk they get registered over there, I wish I could do that here
(I take it you meant Texas, USA)
Jarrod.
