Yes it's funny isn't it? The very thing that we look back at with nostalgia, ie "get er dun" using your brains and not just following the rule book, is the very thing we scoff at now.
In Thailand a while ago, what they did and what they loaded, was simply amazing. not a drama, just stick it on. Same in Vietnam. I guess life is cheaper there? But gee it was a bit refreshing to see people having a crack.. And no drama. The things I saw would simply be front page headlines here, were just commonplace, normal going about your business.
Not being critical, just sayin'...

I thought the truck with the foliage was great... Not only a tad wide high and long, but old mate riding along on the top too...
Just imagine seeing that in Melbourne....
Cheers

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Swish man I sez the Diamond T i s positively futuristic compared to the Pacific dargon wagon
Still some gear with out much shift loads that would 5 trucks with 3 times the power each

Had a look-see for a bit more back ground to that Latil TAR. Seems it were 4x4 with chain drive to the front steerable wheels. Caint find no piccys of what would be an interesting set-up.
The 1919 tracked version looks like something seen pulling plows nowadays...
