Im fairly sure in the US it would have been butane as thats what a lot of old Cat crawlers were converted to over there
Dunno how much different that is if at all to our LPG ???

Yeah,I was gonna say propane,but didnt want to get too technical.......both Mack and White marketed gasoline engined/propane fuelled. trucks up to the early 70s,and Hall Scott was owned by the owners of Kenworth,and even the 2,000cu in V12 Hall Scott was fittted on special order post WW2.
