Brisbane Times Rodeo cattle donor killed by his reversing truck at Woodford showgrounds 24 June 2018.
Renowned rodeo cattle donor Brian King has been identified as the man who died after being run over by his prime mover at the Woodford Showgrounds north of Brisbane on Saturday.
Mr King, who owns BK Bucking Bulls, had donated some of his rodeo cattle to the Woodford Show which was held at the showgrounds on Friday and Saturday, Queensland Country Life reports.

Mr King, 58, was reversing his prime mover with a cattle trailer attached about 9.20pm at the showgrounds on Neurum Road in Woodford.
Police said the driver opened his door and stood on the steps leading up to the cab. He then lost his footing, fell under the vehicle and was run over by the still-reversing truck.
Woodford Show Society President Val Reichle said they were assisting police with their investigations and passed on their condolences to the family of the man involved.
Tributes were posted online for the Mundubbera man, including one from rider Lane Mellers.
“Extremely sad loss happened last night,” he said.
“Brian King, thank you for everything you have done for me. You were one of the wildest, funny and loving personalities I’ve ever been around growing up. You will be missed and we all love you!!”

Just a week earlier, Mr Mellers had become the only person to ride Mr King’s bull, Game On, who was heading into retirement unridden from 100 outings.
Said 2018 NRA Rodeo Queen Creedence Donoghue on Facebook: “He was a great contractor to the National Rodeo Association and will be dearly missed within the rodeo family and outside by the people who knew him.”
Robyn Maeyke said: “Condolences to the family of this well known and respected member of our community.”
The Woodford Show had been held at the showgrounds over the past two days and wrapped up on Saturday night, with a rodeo starting at 6.30pm following a fireworks display.
The Forensic Crash Unit has examined the scene and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland were assisting with the police investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

That's pretty sad, I knew of an old driver that did that for about 20 years reversing his semi into the local cool store standing on the drivers step, I think the habit started in the good old days when mirrors were only on the drivers side and about 4" round and nothing on the left side, then when then when west coasters come along a case of old habits die hard.

While working for someone on a rural block we were waiting for the truck to arrive and when he did he told us the gate back down the road needed some panel beating.
Apparently as he went to close the gate which was on a slight incline as it was near a creek bank, he only applied the trailer brakes as he got out, somehow they got released as he was shutting the gate and he had to get out of the way and the truck took out the gate and the gate post. No damage to the truck though.

Even in the blastyard a few years ago,we would get drivers that would open the door and stand up and look back....I believe its mainly guys who cant back by mirrors, but its dangerous ,no doubt. No need now anyway, put a video camera at the back ..or on top of the cab.........I heard a funny story about runaways, they were fixing a tilt cab, maxi brakes locked on due to no air,but not set.....started the motor with the cab tilted,as air built up,the truck started to creep, and rolled downhill into the dam.........not good for the motor.Nother funny one......I..went into the office,said....traffics stopped outside......why?....theres a truck blocking the road......all wrapped in a fence...........driver rushes outside....WTF?..Held on the trailer brakes.

Obviously some truck drovers are illiterate as well as dumb. All trailer brakes are clearly marked " NOT FOR PARKING". Herein endeth the lesson.
