Shooting the breeze (read B.S.ing) with a bloke recently and a couple of names came up, one was Harry Powell Transport, used to have a yard almost within a stones throw of the famous Flemington (Vic.) racecourse. Reckon it has all been built out with high-priced housing by now.
Ran a couple of Diamond T single drives, (British racing green?) carting general. Had screamers in them with big megaphone exhausts coming out just in front of the drivers side tyres. Used to really bellow when on full song, hear them coming from miles away.
Other one was Kenelly's Tpt, from around Spotswood way??
Pretty sure Kennelly's may have been the ones who had a few Macks up on Bouganville Island when the copper was in full swing, subbing for Brambles?
Again, quite a few years back now, maybe a few of the older historians can shed a bit of light on them, the old memory isn't what it used to be.
