Holden red motors were a common conversion in the day,and cheap as dirt.

The 361 s have a little quirk you need to keep an eye on...............the valley cover is only a thin steel sheet, and if left sit will rust thru and dump rain water into the motor......How do I know this?

Does this mean the engine in the Commer's toast?

Jarrod.

More than likely.......couple of characters spent several weekends trying to remove the cab to take the motor.........anyhoo,they said bad words and havent been back...........my theory is it doesnt affect the scrap value.Last V8 petrol I had was a bogie 1840 ACCO,straight door tipper...ate fuel....when petrol was 18c a litre it nearly sent me broke.....So,im not a big fan of petrol motors..............did I tell ya about the time we bought two NM Macks in Melbourne........towed one with the other.......was getting 2 gallons to the mile at times.Best was one mile per gallon......80 miles from a 80 gallon tank.Got back to Brisbane one week before Wran put a 8c a litre extra tax on NSW fuel......Sold one truck thru an auction to a guy who thought such a big motor must be diesel.
