Road Worthy....? was created by Pauliey
Ok - here goes - am I opening a can of worms?
I sold the J3 Bedford and have picked up a running International AB160 tipper, drove it home from Wagga to Tallarook.
It ran like a dream all the way home sat on 70-80Kmh mostly back roads but some Hume crawling. It had been regularly used as a grain haul truck up there so was well maintained.
Id like to get it on the road and need to have a road worthy check completed.
Suggestions on who & where in Victoria would be great!
cheers

I am on the opposite side of town from you and cannot help with names in your area. If you become desperate, let me know and I can give you a couple of contacts in Gippsland.

By the way, do you know where the saying "Things are crook in Tallarook" came from? I am sure it is not true. Maybe some wag thought it rhymed.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

RE: Things are crook in Tallarook

way way back wen eye can hardly remember
Sydney road @ tallarook was bisected with the train line th@ had man operated railway gates
and twaz not unusual for gates to be cloased waitin on a train to appear ..............wait upto 15minutes
so Things are crook in Tallarook if n u try n to make a mile

The town is known in Australia for the colloquialism, "Things are crook in Tallarook", believed to date to the Great Depression and unemployed travellers seeking work. The phrase became the basis of a song composed by Jack O'Hagan—Things Is Crook In Tallarook

Dun thank me thank Mr Google

I would be looking at truck dealerships in nearby country towns. They are most likely to be familiar with old farm trucks and won't be worried by cosmetic blemishes.

In SA a roadworthy check is not required for club registered trucks. This may only be a SA law but worth checking in your state

Can I suggest Cloverdale Motors in Nanneela if that's not to far away. Tony is a member of the ATHS and won't do anything dodgy but does understand old trucks and CPS requirements. The only other ones I know of are even further away!

I would expect to pay $500 or more. It will depend how easily the brake drums etc come off as they all need to be checked. Time is the main killer as they need to record photographs of it all for future reference these days so they can't just take off a front wheel they need to take them all off and record with photos that they have done so

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/registration/lim...me/get-a-club-permit
Vic Roads say vehicles built prior to 1949 don't need a RWC for the CPS. IIRC the HCVC in Vic have a blanket ruling that all CPS applications must have a RWC, could some one in the club verify this please. Thanks in advance. ;)

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.
