Early ACCOs-Short & Long Door

Greetings All
This has been exercising my tiny mind for some time.
I used to own a short door with a Perkins, and drove a long door as well.
How did IH "convert" the short door to long door?
The windscreen to back of cabin distance seems the same.
Is the "snout" bigger?
What other differences were there in the early ones.?
I know later they had V8 Cummins and so on, but I'm talking only the earlier Perkins powered jobs.
The long door had a different gear shift arrangement-some sort of overdrive?
But what else was different?
Acknowledgement to the picture takers, and I found my Atki Pete book but don't have it with me
Cheers

The cab and snout are the same size, the long door was made possible by moving the front axle back 10 inches.

Thanks 180
Pretty obvious when I think about it now.
I was trying to find two pics of the different models taken from the same spot but that's not easy.
Ok, apart from the easier access, why did they do that change?
Now-
Anybody got any ideas on the different gearboxes?

I believe the axle was moved back to get more weight on the front axle and a little less on the drive. Used to drive both versions in the late '60s.

The diesel powered trucks were often fitted with the T34 overdrive gearbox as standard, while the petrol powered trucks were fitted with the T35 direct gearbox.

The gear stick positions of 4th and 5th gears are reversed in the overdrive gearbox.

TI, I dont have my book handy either, but the V8 Cummins was available as an option in the short door as well, and the gear box over drive or direct was just another buyer choice.
otherwise, I think your question is answered????

According to Atki Pete's book, the flat door models (excluding army versions) ran from 1961 to 1968, then the long door from 1968 until the tilt cab came out in 1972.

The straight door cabs ,it was quite easy to catch the toe of your boot on the sill, and go out headfirst ,especially if you were tired.....some pommy trucks were worse with a long handbrake lever along the outside edge of the cab.
