if you dont carry loads ,a small gap will be OK ...its obvious if the tyres touch ,there will be a black ring around the middle of each case.......My recollection (may be wrong) is 9.00 s were too wide for my C1600 4x4.....But it would depend on the tyres and the rims fitted ....any Budd type 5 stud will fit ,and some may be wider spaced.

Go for it!

They are not going to touch unless you load it up or go off road. If you find they do occasionally touch on a big bump (not the end of the world) a few more PSI will stand them up better and keep them apart.

If you are going to replace them remember radial tyres bulge much more than cross-ply so better to stick with tradition with your close tolerance.

If the tyres rub why not fit a spacer between the rims?

No one will know.

Apparently C1600 Inters came in three chassis lengths. Mine is 171". We're many of the longer length built and has anyone know of one for sale.
Thanks,

Maurice
