An inline GM can be either rotation, and can be assembled with the head facing either way,and the blower on either side ......The block can be rotated between the ends ,and there are tunnels either side for either a camshaft or a balance shaft......So the exhaust can be on the same side as the blower or the other side .......The blower always turns the same way ,and the timing gears at the back of the block have multiple marks to suit......as well as different marks for standard and advanced timing ......simple!

Swishman I believe the timing needed advancing once the injectors went above a certain size

.
.Thank you Gents for your replies...........
Yes John i realise that the inline donks can be built up in a number of configureations , but
that does not answer the question of cam rotation..........looking at the flywheel end (that is where all the
cogs are) the cam rotation would depend on which way the head is fitted (exhaust on near or off side )as both
the cam (and balance shaft) has to be moved accordingly........Some say the cam has to be end for ended..........
Others say shove the cam in from the back, move the idler gear to the opposite side , that gets the cam rotating
in the original direction even though it is now in the opposite side of the block.
GM says when the head is turned around the cam has to rotate in the opposite direction..........
Does that mean you have to use a L/H or R/H cam (as the case may be )................
About the blower...........To get the blower on the opposite side (for what ever reason ) the block has to be end for
ended............... now wouldn't the rotation of the blower drive gear (as viewed from the back)
have to be reversed to get the blower turning in the new direction ??????????
I hope that all makes some sense...............
