Not a bad effort

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

V8Ian Some people have absolutely no sense of humour.
Years ago I had to spend a few dollars on behalf of my employer. I went to my then boss, an accountant, and told him "I need X dollars for my eXpenses" which had sounded very funny when I heard Harry Seacome the Irish singer and comedian (he played Neddy Seagoon in the Goon Show) say it. I had all the receipts. My Boss was not amused and seemed to think I was taking the piss out of him.

Yes Sir Harry was Welsh. I don't know how I made that mental stuffup. He would have said Yuckie Da. (that is about the only Welsh saying I know. A couple of Welshman I asked do not know the proper way to spell it in English so I do the best I can)
Wife and I bought our house from a man whose name sounded Welsh and when we visited on our second inspection I saw his full name on the paperwork and his middle name confirmed it. I told him that had I been sure he was from Wales I would have greeted him with "Yuckie Da." He said I probably know more Welsh that he does as when he was at school in Wales seventy years ago they were not taught any of their own language and were forbidden to speak it. Since then I have called him "Jones the Engineer."

I would like them to be sitting out the back here now. You mentioned a team of Bullocks, that is what moved our old farm house to this block in the village about 50 years back and the house was over 50 then.
