1962 Dodge AT4 was created by Boggy
My wife recently went to visit our daughter in Sydney. She found us an AT4 while she was there and drove it home to our property West of Dalby in Qld. I have been doing a few jobs for RWC and have been having trouble getting rear shocks. I climbed under it to get a part number and ..........Wow. .........It has no back shocks. There are brackets where the air bags used to be but no bloody shockies, Surely this is not normal???? Is it?

.

Yes. It appears to be broken.

Dee is good at finding new toys to follow us home. Even from the beginning of our time with the stationary engines, she found, negotiated a price and boght a small hit n miss engine. I was busy yapping and she asked for the cheque book so with confidence I dug it out of the car and next thing there was this beautiful engine ready to rally. It is still a great engine even after 10 years, she has a good eye for these things and can answer most question at Rallies about all the toys.

Glad about the shocks, I thought some idiot must have cut the pins off when they put the air bags on lol. The stupidity of some previous owners never ceases to amaze me. The hinges for the side boards were tech screwed on. They fell off the first time I tried to drop the sides . My wife also found me an old inter (I have no details on it yet) and a 1970 Acco tipper. I am yet to pick them up but I am kicking around the idea of a 6354 Perkins powered AT4 in the future. The Acco will cart gravel from my back dam to build my driveway in the mean time . I will see if I can find some pics of both.

The acco is early sixties .....they had a nice fibreglass bonnet with the master cylinders and battery easily accessable when its opened .......the later ACCO has a flip lid ,very hard to get a big battery in and out.

Yes. The whole thing lifts. I had it running a few weeks ago. Took ages to prime it and the cold start poured diesel all over the floor of the cab, There is plenty of rust in it and the roof looks like someone used it for a trampoline, it will be great for carting dirt around the farm tho. I will have to cut the grain bin down and brace it a bit .
I am yet to measure it up but I think the motor will probably go straight into the AT4 if I decide to go down that path. The 5 speed will be a bonus too. I will have to source a suitable diff ratio as I think I would want about 2000rpm at 100kmh. The AT4 will have a front end rebuild and disc brakes before I even contemplate pulling the slant 6 out.
